IFI Main Scheme accredited facility - Mill Chase Leisure Centre in Bordon, Hampshire has recently been praised by a local user. Stephen Holden wrote a letter to the editor of the Bordon Herald Newspaper stating;
'I would like to highlight the excellent work being undertaken by the Kinetika gym staff at Mill Chase under the Inclusive Fitness Initiative.
I am disabled and have mobility problems resulting from a condition known as transverse myelitis.
The fitness instructors have been helping me to regain my confidence, strength and greatly improve my mobility and general feeling of wellbeing. I am still in the recovery phase and have a chance to improve further and hopefully return to employment.
With NHS resources under strain and availability limited, I find that attending the gym has been very beneficial and helped me when others were unable. There is good integration of physically fit and disabled people that makes for an enjoyable environment. I would urge anyone with a disability to take a look".
In 2006, Mill Chase Leisure Centre won the Community Impact Award at the IFI Awards. The award looked at how the facility engaged with their local community and what lasting mark they have made.
