World Mental Health Day - 10th October 2008

World Mental Health Day started in 1992 and is officially commemorated every year on October 10th.

Rethink celebrates World Mental Health Day each year, using it as a great opportunity to communicate mental health issues and raise awareness.

Rethink services and support groups up and down the country are holding a variety of events to mark the occasion. Rethink in Evesham are running a Good Mood and Food event on the 7th October supporting this year’s awareness campaign whilst raising the profile and reducing the stigma often attached to mental health conditions.

The IFI are supporting the event by running a workshop on the physical activity initiative aimed at increasing physical activity opportunities for disabled people.

Experts believe exercise releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel good. Therefore regular exercise can boost your self-esteem, help you concentrate, sleep, and look & feel better. Exercise also keeps the brain and your other vital organs healthy.

Try to make physical activity something that you enjoy, a part of your daily life!
