Award 1 – Innovation In Inclusive Marketing
The value of creating accessible facilities is significantly diminished unless serious consideration is given to innovative and inclusive marketing techniques that support facilities to realise the commercial potential of inclusion. This award recognises inclusive marketing approaches, innovative strategies that have engaged with the whole community and organisations that have been successful in creating a truly inclusive usage of their facilities.
Award 2 – Building Outstanding Partnerships
Partnership working is key to developing opportunities, there are numerous organisations in the field working towards common agendas but all too often people work in isolation. The successful facility demonstrates a variety of sustainable partnerships leading to tangible increase participation. These partnerships should be evidenced via monitoring and evaluation, demonstrating a proactive approach to the needs of local people.
Award 3 – Creating Inclusive Environments
Creating accessible facilities is only part of the equation. It is critical to take a more comprehensive and holistic approach to accessibility, tackling policies, procedures and practices whilst also addressing physical accessibility. The successful facility demonstrates an ongoing commitment to creating inclusive leisure environments adopting and abiding inclusive policies and procedures. Further to this, the facility takes a proactive and committed approach utilising innovative ways to overcome and limit barriers to participation.
Award 4 – Engaging Volunteers
Volunteers are crucial to enhancing services, developing opportunities and progressing careers. The successful facility utilises inclusive, innovative and appropriate methods to recruit and retain volunteers, demonstrating progressive pathways and opportunities, whilst providing reward and recognition for achievement.
Award 5 – Individual Commitment to Inclusive Fitness
It is not the facility itself that makes a service inclusive but the individuals that strive to succeed providing outstanding levels of commitment to inclusion within it. The individual demonstrates a continuous commitment to the IFI, successfully developing community projects linking to their accredited IFI facility. The candidate adopts an inclusive work ethic communicating appropriately and effectively with colleagues, partners and the general public.
Award 6 – Developing Sport for All
Leisure facilities are often seen as the hub of sport, leisure and physical activity opportunities within the local community. The successful facility demonstrates effective partnership work with sport and leisure providers, developing sustainable inclusive participation opportunities. The facility is able to recognise and signpost talented athletes, whilst effectively monitoring and evaluating current schemes adapting to meet the needs of the local community.
Award 7 – Demonstrating Corporate Commitment
As a single facility you can change a community, as an organisation you can widen inclusive opportunities and experiences for all. The successful organisation has multiple accredited IFI facilities adopting the IFI principles throughout. The organisation maintains effective communication channels through key partners in particular the IFI, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the project whilst being an advocate of best practice.
Award 8 – Award of Outstanding Achievement
Exceeding expectations is challenging yet achievable, the Inclusive Fitness Initiative has continued to develop and strive for inclusion throughout the programme. The IFI award of outstanding achievement recognises the facility most committed to the IFI principles, demonstrating a proactive approach to inclusivity, policies and ethics. The facility is a forefront leader and example of good practice across the leisure industry.
