The IFI is currently undertaking a research project into the audio feedback produced by gym equipment. The intention of the project is to make current and future sports equipment more inclusive for disabled and non-disabled people.

The term "audio feedback" relates to the sounds produced while a user is setting up and using the equipment.  For example, by using voice/ speech, clicks, tones & beeps. The Audio Feedback Project will look into all aspects of integrating audio into gym equipment, making the workout safer, easier and more productive for the user and facility.

The Audio Feedback Project involves the research, design and prototyping of different audio solutions. With the R&D Associates being sponsors of the Audio Feedback Project, detailed research & findings will be distributed to suppliers as a set of guidance notes. This will mean real change in the industry, giving R&D associates a competitive edge.
