The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) is being showcased as one of only 12 projects as part of the
The IFI has received this award as a result of the cutting edge work being done in partnership with UK based fitness equipment suppliers. Innovation in the design and development of inclusive fitness equipment, the publication of the IFI’s Stage 2 Equipment Standards and the impact made in changing the culture of the fitness industry to welcome and service disabled people, have been recognised through this award. The award also provides opportunities for equipment suppliers to demonstrate their innovation on an international stage with a view to stimulating increased business.
A delegation of 15 Chinese reporters, representing some of the major TV channels, newspapers and web based media will learn more about inclusive fitness equipment when they spend a day in Sheffield with the IFI team, equipment suppliers and gym users, including Paralympic and Olympic athletes.
UK Trade & Investment’s "12 for 2012: Winning with Innovation" programme. This programme focuses on profiling, at this year’s Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, products and services that have, or will, revolutionise sport. The award also involves a media visit by Chinese journalists to the UK to profile the technology in advance of the 2008 Games.
