Last year, the IFI Team received many enquiries from facilities asking for advice and support with regards to inclusive marketing and requests to help Facility/Fitness Managers to market their services more effectively to disabled people with the aim of increasing partcipation figures and gym memberships.
In response to this, the IFI are providing you with the opportunity to access two marketing seminars as part of the IFI Education Programme 2009-2010 Sponsored by Cybex.

Each IFI facility receives two free places and places are available for non-IFI facilities at a cost of £50 per place.

Setting the Tone: Sending out an inclusive marketing message is the title for the seminars which will be kick started with a workshop from John Ainsworth, Director of Make Sport Fun. John has worked in marketing in the USA and the UK for 8 years and in sports marketing for the past 5 years. His experience includes Campaigns manager at Sport England, Consultant for the World Health Organisation, advising both the Argentinean and Brazilian governments, Organised participation events for London 2012 and built the world's most used activity marketing resources including www.promotingactivity.com (Change 4 Life). John will be exploring the specific promotional messages (identified through extensive research) that can be used within your communications to successfully target different audiences and market segments.
Katie Start, Account Director at Promote PR will provide an overview of social media and demonstrate how operators can make use of free online tools including Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter and blogging. Promote PR has worked in in the field of active leisure for 16 years, and are extremely passionate and experienced in health, fitness, sport and all things health, fitness and sport related. In terms of marketing they are involved in everything from generating news stories and creating ezines, through to running events and managing social media campaigns.
Michael Parsons from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) will be finishing the event with a workshop about how to make sure that your website is more inclusive; a presentation not to be missed. Michael has worked foR RNIB for almost 12 years and has more specially worked for the RNIB Access Consultancy Services since 2001, taking on the responsibility of National Training Co-ordinator.
