Monday 8th February 2010
Get Active Week is a new and exciting campaign brought to you by Hallam Union and Sport Hallam. Sheffield Hallam University has two IFI accredited fitness suites and the campaign aims to encourage SHU students and staff to increase their levels of physical activity and challenge themselves to try something new.
The timetable includes various fitness classes provided by Sport Hallam, but also activities including canoeing, sailing, cheerleading, bike rides and organised walks in the Peak District. So why not have a look at the timetable and develop your own programme of events that you will attend during the week.
Get Active week is running from Monday 8th February - Sunday 14th February, a full timetable of activities is downloadable below.
All activities that say CITY CAMPUS are being held in the Sports Hall at City Campus, go to Club Hallam for directions.
Activities that say COLLEGIATE will be in the gym or sports hall, go to the Sport Hallam reception at Pearson Building for directions.
On the original timetable there was a few miss prints and unfortunately a few activities have had to be cancelled:
- THE DANCE EVENTS ON THE FRIDAY HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
- ICE SKATING IS THURSDAY NIGHT not Wednesday
- CIRCUS SKILLS IS ONLY HAPPENING 15.00 -17.00 on Monday
- SAILING HAS HAD TO BE CANCELLED - APOLOGIES
- ALL THE CHEAP SWIM OFFERS ARE AT KING EDWARDS POOL
We are also asking students and staff to make a pledge for the new year. You could pledge to walk to Uni instead of getting the bus, attend 2 fitness classes a week or do a fun run in Endcliffe park. I (Sam Gill, Sports Officer) will be pledging to go to the gym at least 3 times a week and eat less flapjack!
Please keep checking this site for more information on Get Active Week 2010. But if you do have any further questions on Get Active Week please do not hesitate to contact either Samantha Gill (Sports Officer) email here or Joel Kesterton (Sport & Active Lifestyles Development Coordinator) email here
