Two IFI Sites in Flame Award Top Three

Congratulations go IFI Site Hillsborough Leisure Centre who for the 2nd year in a row have won the FIA's FLAME Award, naming them the best health and leisure facility in the country.

This year the IFI saw two sites in the top three in the country competing for Centre of the Year, Hillisborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield and Pavillions in the Park in Horsham. Hilisborough just pipped Robin Park to the post.

The centre, which is managed by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), took the title of Centre of the Year at a special Gala Dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham last night (September 27).

Centre Manager Richard Apps collected the award in front of hundreds of delegates, dignitaries and leading industry figures.

He said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been named the best centre in the country at the FLAME awards once more – they’re the industry’s equivalent of the OSCARS.

“The Awards act as a national benchmark for leisure centre’s up and down the country and they are an important yardstick for judging and maintaining industry standards.

“It was always going to be difficult to defend our crown but we believe we’ve built on our successes of last year to further improve the venue for the benefit of our customers.

“It’s a testament to the skills, dedication and hard work of the entire team at Hillsborough that we’ve been able to maintain the incredibly high standards that we’re continually striving to reach.”

To reach the final three, the centre was subject to a rigorous examination process to ensure they meet FIA best practice, a site visit from FLAME assessors and had to provide key data about the venue including people management, customer processes and impact on society.

An independent market research company visited Hillsborough in August to complete a customer satisfaction survey.

Added Richard: “This award recognises that the centre is being managed in the best way possible and that we’re providing our members with superb facilities and excellent value for money.”
