The deadline is fast approaching for the Count Me In campaign to collect signatures to support their "Count Me In" Award. At present, there are 10,280 signatures with a requirement for more to ensure that Disability Sport is receives the prifle it deserves.
The Award was launched by Sports Minister
Richard Caborn in summer 2006, and aims to support disabled children,
young people and adults to have equal access to sport and physical
activity.
So far they have got signatures from:
- Sports Minister - Richard Caborn
- Minister for Disabled People - Anne McGuire
- Director Office of Disability Issues - Bruce Calderwood.
- The Secretary of State for Education - Alan Johnson
- Chair of the Disability Rights Commission - Bert Massie
- Chair UK Sport - Sue Campbell
- Chief Executive Youth Sport Trust - Steve Grainger
- Chair of the Labour Party - Hazel Blears
And Big sporting names:
- Sir Trevor Brooking
- Darren Campbell
- Linford Christie
- Duncan Goodhew
- Ade Adepitan
- Dame Kelly Holmes
- Danny Mills
- Ian Rose
- Uriah Rennie
- Tessa Sanderson
- Iwan Thomas
- Marc Woods
- Colin Jackson
Various national businesses have also signed up including Nationwide, npower and the BBC.
