In December 2007, Michelle Dent joined the rapidly expanding IFI Inclusive Activator Programme as West Midlands Regional Inclusive Activator.
Michelle will work alongside other Regional Inclusive Activators and IFI Accredited Facilities, promoting the Initiative in the West Midlands and encouraging disabled people into physical activity. The Inclusive Activator Programme is a coordinated programme of outreach designed to engage disabled people in physical activity, using the accredited network of Inclusive Fitness Facilities as a basis for participation.
After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University in November 2006 with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport Development & Coaching, Michelle’s experience includes Event Management, Coach Recruitment and developing Continuous Professional Development courses.
More recently, Michelle worked in the East Midlands engaging with School Sport Partnerships, community groups, clubs and leisure facilities recruiting, employing and deploying sports coaches and professionals such as Sports Development Officers and Community Sports Coaches on behalf of clients. In this role, she developed relationships with people working at strategic and operational levels which will be vital for her role as West Midlands Regional Inclusive Activator.
Michelle explained,
"With a love for sport, I knew the role of Regional Inclusive Activator would allow me to assist others in building physical activity into their daily lives. Physical Activity and sport have always played a vital role in my life and I strongly believe everyone is entitled to the opportunity to participate. The Inclusive Fitness Initiative is an exciting project that I am thrilled to be a part of. I strive to develop the West Midlands region engaging more partners, developing awareness, providing more participation opportunities for all".
