Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre in Camden, London has beaten the capital's expensive private clubs and gyms to be named the best in London, proving that public leisure services rival the private sector on quality as well as price.
Time Out magazine gave Swiss Cottage the number one spot as the very best place for a workout. It describes the centre as a "gem in both sporting and architectural terms" that "really does offer something for everyone".
The centre, managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), opened in 2006 as part of the wider regeneration of the area. It offers hundreds of different activities for everyone, including families, and visitors don't need to be a member to use it.
Mark Sesnan, Managing Director of GLL said; "Since re-opening just under two years ago, we have worked hard to ensure that the facilities and services on offer at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre are second to none; and have strived to ensure that it is truly inclusive, offering something for everyone within the local community. We're delighted to be recognised by Time Out and it's great to see that the commitment and expertise of the centre's staff, who work incredibly hard, has been recognised by the customers who visit the centre and enjoy the facilities."
Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre is part of the IFI NSF programme. The centre is currently working towards accreditation with the aim to launch in summer 2008, enabling even more users to benefit from the award winning facilities.
